Del Bosque's three midfield musketeers

Sunday, June 16, 2013 by Marca.com

Vicente del Bosque has been tinkering with his starting eleven and still has one or two slight doubts about who will line up against Uruguay. One thing that is certain, though, is that there are three players who are practically untouchable for the Spain manager. These are Xavi Hernández, Sergio Busquets and Andrés Iniesta.

Barcelona's three midfield musketeers are the commanders of Vicente del Bosque's craft in the Confederations Cup. During the training sessions, the trio has been in sole possession of the 'La Roja' midfield, and, barring any surprises or last-minute changes, they will be so for this Sunday's game at the Pernambuco Arena in Recife, and thus in charge of the team against Uruguay.

Xavi Hernández has been training at the same level as his teammates during the last few days. Although he has gone through a few difficult moments this season, he arrived in Brazil in good shape and now Del Bosque will have to decide how much action to give him.

Sergio Busquets does not let up, either, and continues to be a banker for the manager. He is one of Del Bosque's most important players, and he is doing nothing to make the manager likely to change his mind. Much the same can be said about Iniesta, once again looking to have another great championship with the Spanish side.

There is still the eternal debate about the number 9, and now some doubts about the goalkeeper, plus the unknown quantity of who will be on the right flank, but Del Bosque can at least be sure that Xavi Hernández, Busquets and Iniesta will be the brains of his team against Uruguay.
