Spain on course for semi-finals, believes Del Bosque

The 62-year-old revealed his satisfaction at La Roja's start to their Confederations Cup campaign, which he feels puts them in a great position to progress

Vicente del Bosque believes that Spain have put themselves in a great position to make the Confederations Cup semi-finals having won their opening game against Uruguay.

La Furia Roja were irrepressible as they controlled the game throughout and following a 2-1 victory the coach thinks his side are well placed to qualify for the next round.

"They are three great points that place us in the best position to put us in the semi-finals," said to reporters afterwards.

Luis Suarez took some of the shine off of a brilliant display from the Spaniards with a sublime free kick providing a consolation for La Celeste, but the 62-year-old insisted that his team had played well.

"[I am satisfied] not only by the performance of the first half, but also by the second. We played well, although everything was marred by the end.

"We grew very tired in the last minutes. It is normal with the high temperature that we suffer."

Spain currently sit top of Group B and take on Tahiti at the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro in their next outing on Thursday.
