Mata and De Gea to face off against their new boss
Friday, June 13, 2014 by Marca.comThe upcoming game between Spain and the Netherlands will pit the two finalists from the 2010 World Cup in South Africa against each other once again. It will also give Juan Mata and David de Gea the opportunity to say hi to the man who will coach them at Manchester United next season: Louis van Gaal.
The Netherlands' coach has committed his future to United, and after his World Cup campaign, Van Gaal will take over as first-team coach at Old Trafford. He is set to replace Ryan Giggs, who coached the team towards the end of last season after David Moyes was sacked.
Both De Gea and Mata are thrilled with the Dutchman's appointment at Old Trafford.
"Louis van Gaal is a coach who has won everything. He's an outstanding manager who will bring great things to Manchester United. I think we're going to do great with him in charge of the team," said De Gea, who stressed that "he's going to turn things around at Manchester United and bring a different playing style with him."
Mata also offered his opinion on his new coach: "Van Gaal is a very experienced coach who's won lots of titles. I'm sure that he'll prepare every last detail for the game against Spain. I wish him all the best at the World Cup. It'd be great to meet the Netherlands in another final."
