Wayne Rooney wants to get nasty after World Cup elimination
Sunday, June 22, 2014 by Dailystar.co.ukWAYNE ROONEY last night called on England to develop a NASTY streak to become more successful.
NASTY BOY: Rooney wants England to be more ruthless
The England striker believes the team, dumped out of the World Cup after two matches, is too nice.
Rooney said: “You look at teams who have won the tournament over previous years and you can see that nastiness in them.
“I think we need to get that into us. Maybe we are too honest.
“In terms of Uruguay the other night, they stopped the game and I don’t know how many fouls they committed – clever fouls.
“That was to slow down the game. I think we are a bit honest in terms of the way we play.
“Daniel Sturridge could have made more of a foul on him by Diego Godin. You see their players surrounding the referee.
“I got kicked ten times and I don’t think a yellow card was given.
“I think we need to be more streetwise. You see a lot of the great teams, international and club teams, they have that.”
