FIFA have refused to comment on claims that executive committee members had their salaries doubled after bonuses were stopped.

A newspaper report suggested that 25 ExCo members now receive £117,000 annually plus generous expenses while they are on FIFA business, such as at the World Cup in Brazil.

These pay rise claims have emerged just months after FIFA announced in February that members had agreed to scrap the system where they received bonuses - reportedly £117,000 each after the 2010 World Cup.

When asked about the newspaper's findings, FIFA spokeswoman Delia Fischer said: "We do not comment on allegations."

But Fischer did confirm that executive payments are decided by a remuneration panel, which was created as part of FIFA reforms in 2011.

She also denied further claims that members can ask to be paid in cash.

"We have standards in place which are clearly audited and monitored,” said Fischer. “Everyone working here receives money via bank transfers and it is all audited."

FIFA vice-president Jim Boyce did not want to discuss the specific allegations, but told Sky Sports News that his salary is paid to his UK bank account and he pays full tax on that.
