Manchester United line up summer deals for Dutch duo

Monday, June 30, 2014 by Dailystar.co.uk

NIGEL DE JONG could be heading back to Manchester to join United.

ON JONG: Nigel De Jong could be the next arrival in United's summer spending spree

The Daily Star Sunday has been told that the former Manchester City midfielder is a potential target at £10 million for new United boss Louis Van Gaal.

De Jong, 29, is part of Van Gaal’s Dutch squad in Brazil and United are in the market for a holding midfielder.

Hard-man De Jong is currently with Milan.

United have also stepped up their interest in Feyenoord’s Dutch centre back Stefan de Vrij, as first revealed in the Daily Star Sunday.

GOING DUTCH: Louis Van Gaal will try to bring Dutch personnel and philosophy to new look United

De Vrij, 22, has been impressive in Brazil and is valued by his club at £20 million.

United have also been scouting at the World Cup with a ten-man team of talent spotters in Brazil.

The Old Trafford club, meanwhile, have blocked loan requests from Burnley and Wigan for striker James Wilson, 18.

Wilson scored twice on his debut against Hull last season.

United understandably want Van Gaal to see the young striker in training before a decision is made on whether to keep him at the club or let him leave on loan to gain experience.
