Argentina will qualify for the 2014 World Cup with a win over Paraguay on Tuesday, while their passage to Brazil could even be secured before kick-off.

The Albiceleste sit top of the South American group and a party atmosphere will be guaranteed among those travelling to Asuncion.

As a result of the high stakes, striker Sergio Aguero wants to get the job done with the minimum of fuss.

The Manchester City striker told Radio Metro: "The main point is to be qualified, as it would give us confidence and calmness ahead of the future."

And, although the task could be taken out of their hands, Aguero added: "It would be great too if we get the qualification by beating Paraguay because it would be on our own merit."

Manager Alejandro Sabella will head into the game without the suspended quartet of Javier Mascherano, Gonzalo Higuain, Federico Fernandez and Ezequiel Garay.

But one of the players likely to play, Fernando Gago, views it as a chance to see how strong the squad is.

"We must keep thinking of ourselves, improving as a team and become stronger and stronger ahead of the World Cup," he said.

"Clinching qualification on Tuesday would be nice because it is the result of a long journey. It is nice motivation for us."

There have been some concerns over the fitness of star man Lionel Messi but, according to coach Sabella, there is nothing to worry about.

"Messi is okay. Sometimes the team needs and the player's anxiety when playing for important goals makes you play before getting fully fit, but he is fit," he said.

In midfielder Victor Ayala Paraguay have a man who plays in Argentina with Lanus and he knows what sort of task lies ahead of his side.

"They have an extra thing with Messi, a thing the other teams do not have," he said.

"They are a powerful team in football and we must pay much attention also to (Sergio) Aguero, (Ever) Banega and (Angel) Di Maria, but specially to Messi, who is the best of all."

Paraguay are in good form after a 4-0 win over Bolivia, but their hopes of qualification are close to impossible as they lie second from bottom in the standings.

Having collected only 11 points in 13 games, the Guaranies are just one point above Bolivia and eight below Uruguay, who would be getting the ticket for a knock-out tie against an Asian nation for a berth in the World Cup if the tournament ended now.

Ayala, who recorded two assists in that game, added: "Argentina will try to get the qualification against us, I think it'll be an open match, but we need the support of our fans."

Defender Paulo Da Silva added: "The victory over Bolivia encouraged us a lot but the upcoming game is very different, because Argentina are on top of the table and have a great team."
