Arsenal striker Lukas Podolski shows support for Schumacher with boots

Wednesday, February 12, 2014 by YAHOO Sport

Arsenal and Germany forward Lukas Podolski has unveiled a new pair of boots carrying a supportive message to Formula One legend Michael Schumacher.

The seven-time F1 champion remains in an induced coma following a skiing accident in the French Alps back in December and Podolski has joined the collection of stars to have shown their support.

Podolski posted a photo of the new boots, which he is to wear for Arsenal's match against Manchester United on Wednesday evening, on Facebook and Twitter.

The boots carry a message, reading: "Kampfe Michael get well soon."

Formula One team Mercedes displayed a touching message of support for Schumacher on their new WO5 model car during testing for this season in Jerez last month.

On the side of the car was the message "Keep Fighting Michael".

The team revealed their move through a picture on Twitter and encouraged other users to follow their lead by retweeting using the hashtag.

Schumacher remains gravely ill in a French hospital following his skiing accident on 29 December.

He has been treated by medics in what has been described as a 'gradual awakening' process in recent weeks but his condition remains fragile.
