Thursday, February 13, 2014 by DailymailRoy Hodgson has ended John Terry’s dream of returning to the England team for the World Cup.

No way back: Roy Hodgson has confirmed that John Terry will not be considered for this summer's World Cup
Although Terry has always maintained that he would never play for his country again, there has been some momentum behind a recall for his summer’s finals in south America.
But Hodgson said: ‘I have nothing more to say than I have already said. John has retired and as far as I am concerned that is the situation.
‘We have got along without him for the whole of the qualification and a few friendly matches as well so we will have to get along without him in the future.
Net anymore: Terry will sign off with 78 England caps having made his debut in 2003
‘As far as I am concerned retirement is retirement. You respect that when players retire and we move on.
‘We moved on after our first qualification game when John Terry limped off and since that time we have chosen the players who are available who have represented us well in my opinion so we will continue with that.’
Terry last appeared for England during a World Cup qualifier against Moldova in September, 2012. He will sign off with 78 caps and six goals.
Hodgson also confirmed that Rio Ferdinand, who has also retired from international duty, will not be considered for the World Cup finals.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are set to gamble on the fitness of Terry in the FA Cup clash against Manchester City on Saturday with Gary Cahill an injury doubt after limping off in the 1-1 draw at West Brom.
The Blues stumbled in Terry's absence at the Hawthorns on Tuesday night, squandering the chance to open up a four-point lead at the top of the Barclays Premier League.

Mourinho had hoped his influential defender would be fit for the clash with Baggies after breaking down with what the manager described as a double muscle injury.
But Terry will be available for selection when they travel to title rivals Man City for a Cup clash, 12 days after the west Londoners pulled off a stunning 1-0 victory at the Etihad Stadium.
