There has been yet another twist in the Cameroon World Cup match-fixing story.

Convicted fraudster Wilson Raj Perumal has denied predicting the result of a World Cup match involving Cameroon. German magazine Der
Spiegel alleged he told them that Cameroon would lose their match with Croatia.

They say that in a Facebook chat with Perumal just hours ahead of the match on June the 18, Perumal correctly predicted the score and that Cameroon would have a player sent off in the first half.

but, in a statement issued through the co-authors of his biography, Perumal said: "I did not predict the result of the Cameroon vs Croatia match."

He also says the conversation took place on June the 21st, three days after the game had taken place.

Cameroon's football federation said it will investigate the allegations but it had not yet been contacted by FIFA, who said it would not comment so as to "not compromise any possible investigations."

Fans of the side that beat Cameroon in the suspect match are split on whether it was fixed.

SOUNDBITE (Croatian) Dario Bobanovic, football fan:

"I have noticed arguments between Cameroon players and that red card was suspicious to me."

SOUNDBITE (Croatian) Stjepan Vrglec, football fan:

"It is impossible. It is the World Cup and that was the game where we played better and we deservedly won. Who knows what would happen if there was no red card, but that was deserved."

Both sides are now out of the competition but they will hope to have all this clarified very quickly.
