Pope v Pope in World Cup final

11/07/2014 from:SNTV

Intro:

Sunday's 2014 World Cup final is being dubbed the "Pope versus Pope" match on social media.

Script:

The World Cup final between Argentina and Germany has been called the "Pope versus Pope" match by some on social media. There are two living Popes. Argentine Pope Francis, an avid football fan and the German Pope Benedict XVI, more of a classical music fan.

The Vatican says it is unlikely the pair will get together to watch the match on Sunday.

They've played it down but will football decide which Pope is best?

SOUNDBITE (Spanish) Gabriel Perarnau, Argentine fan:

"We can't put it in those terms because it's only football, being just football, Argentina has a big chance, it's 1-1 after 1986 and 1990 and we have the chance to break that deadlock in our favour."

SOUNDBITE (English) Wolfgang Haas, German fan:

"They are the best team, but it could be hard to play against the Argentinians because they are a fit team and yes they have the skills to be the champions, but I think our guys will make it."

There's no doubt though that Pope Francis would prefer to meet World Champions from Argentina.
