SOUNDBITE: (Dutch) Louis van Gaal:

"We can still write history for the Netherlands, because the Netherlands have always lost a match at the World Cup, in 74 and 78 as well, so at this point we haven't lost a match (after extra time). So we are working on that, and I had only two and a half days to analyse Brazil and to watch Brazil and of course I want to watch Brazil as much as I can, because I don't want to leave anything to a chance, so I have been focusing on Brazil."

"First I have to wait and see how this training session goes, who is in good shape, who is not, and, you see, we have been in the tournament with three other teams for the longest time, and so these little pains, these little issues, sort of accumulate and I want to start with the team that is mentally fit in any case. Because in my view, that is the most important thing, the spirit is stronger than the body, but the body must allow for that fitness."

SOUNDBITE: (Dutch) Dirk Kuyt, Netherlands midfielder:

"Yes, that's our objective (to be third in the World Cup), and losing hurts a lot, and of course the pain just doesn't disappear like that, but it is also part of sports, and in sports and football there's always another match, and as the coach just said, we want to win here, we want to return unbeaten, and we want to get on the plane with a good feeling, with the feeling that we have done everything possible to perform, ultimately we won't have achieved our initial objective but we will have given everything to that end."
