Tens of thousands of fans have lined the streets to greet the national side back home, after they landed their fourth World Cup title on Sunday.

The 1-0 victory over Argentina sent the country into raptures, and the party looked set to continue when their heroes landed on home soil.

This title is Germany's first since reunification, and in a city which knows the significance of that more than any other, it looks set to be an occasion to truly savour.

Captain Philipp Lahm was the first to emerge with the World Cup trophy upion the team's arrival, with hundreds gathered at the airport in anticipation.

The celebrations look set to continue for quite some time yet.
