Alen Halilovic, the 16-year-old Dinamo Zagreb midfielder, made his full international debut for Croatia.
The diminutive playmaker, who has been linked with some of Europe’s top clubs, played the final 40 minutes of the match, and showed his potential by firing a left-foot shot just wide of the goal in the 87th minute.
Luka Modric was also in action against his Real team-mate Ronaldo, but the former Spurs midfielder was unable to prevent his side succumbing to defeat.
