Sneijder and De Jong recalled by Netherlands
Thursday, September 26, 2013 by YAHOO SportNetherlands head coach Louis van Gaal has recalled Wesley Sneijder and Nigel de Jong to his preliminary squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Hungary and Turkey.
The Galatasaray and AC Milan midfielders had fallen out of favor with Oranje in recent times, with Sneijder only called upon as a replacement for the injured Georginio Wijnaldum and De Jong returning after almost a year in international exile.
Also returning to the setup is Paris Saint-Germain fullback Gregory van der Wiel, who has not represented his country since the friendly with Belgium in Aug. 2012.
Despite a current groin injury, captain Robin van Persie has also been selected, as well as fellow key players Arjen Robben and Kevin Strootman.
