Mexico fans watch controversial World Cup exit
30/06/2014 from:SNTVIntro:
Mexico fans watched on a big screen in Mexico City as Arjen Robben appeared to dive to win Netherlands a late penalty. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar scored the resulting spot-kick to make it 2-1 and the European side went through to the World Cup quarter-final.
Script:
This is how it feels when your team scores and you think they're going through to the World Cup quarter-finals.
This is what it's like when the other team equalise late on.
And then score a winner.
That was the experience for Mexico fans watching their side go out of the World Cup against Netherlands on a big screen in Mexico City.
SOUNDBITE (Spanish) Rafael Lopez, Mexico fan:
"It was a really good match, they gave it their best. The truth is that they stole the match. That wasn't a penalty. But we are behind the team, we are proud. They (Mexico) played very well. We are very proud of them."
SOUNDBITE (Spanish) Guadalupe Alvarez, Mexico fan:
"As usual, we played well as ever and still lost. Oh, well, maybe next time."
Thing is, it hurts even more with a World Cup as they'll have to wait four years for that next chance.
