German fans in Berlin watched their team beat France 1-0 to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup on Friday.
Mat Hummels scored the winning goal in the Maracana to see Germany where they will now face Brazil in Belo Horizonte on Tuesday for a place in the final.
And one German fan, summed up the mood of the crowd:
SOUNDBITE (German) Ludwig Pheiffer, German football fan:
"It was a good game, but Germany should have created more chances. They should have showed more, which they didn't, but otherwise it was perfect."
However the mood was altogether different in Paris where French fans saw their nation limp out of the World Cup. But the supporters were remaining optimistic:
SOUNDBITE (French) Vox pop, Adrien Craon from Paris:
"We can be proud of our country, be proud of the team we have at the World Cup. Most of them are very young, they are motivated. They really want it and we can feel that, because they have gone this far. At the last world cup this wasn't the case."
Although out of the World Cup, France will host the European Championship in 2016.
