Goals from Fernando Torres and Andres Iniesta helped Spain warm up for their defence of the World Cup with a 2-0 victory over Bolivia.

In two weeks' time the reigning world champions must once again butt heads with Holland - the nation they famously defeated after extra-time in Johannesburg four years ago.

Time is therefore running out for several peripheral players to prove themselves worthy of a seat on the plane to Brazil.

To that end coach Vicente del Bosque made seven substitutes during the second half and, after the outgoing Torres notched the opener from the penalty spot, substitute Iniesta contributed a clever side-footed finish in the 84th minute of play at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

And while Bolivia rarely left their own half, goalkeeper Romel Quinonez kept the scoreline respectable.

Spain soon teased out an opening in the Bolivian back-line and after Pedro had forced a desperate parry from Quinonez, Juan Mata tested the keeper with shot from the left.

Alejandro Chumacero found enough space to take aim at Jose Reina but missed the mark.

The world champions tightened up their lines and next threatened through Torres, who tried his luck from just outside the box but failed to trouble Quinonez.

Javi Martinez dragged his attempt across the goalmouth on the half-hour mark and Santi Cazorla might have given Quinonez a real scare had Gerard Pique not accidentally blocked his drive.

Pedro warmed the Bolivian keeper's palms once again yet Spain were struggling to make headway in the final third.
Four minutes before the break they came closest to opening the scoring, yet Mata would watch Quinonez tip his curling effort over the bar after Xavi's free-kick had caught Bolivia on the hop.

After toiling fruitlessly in front of goal in the first half, Spain were handed an opportunity to break the deadlock shortly after the restart.

Luis Alberto Gutierrez fouled Martinez in the box and Torres coolly struck his penalty straight down the middle of the goal.

The Chelsea striker fancied a second goal but scooped his next shot over the bar before Pedro drove the ball straight down Quinonez's throat.

That prompted Del Bosque to make a triple substitution, with Sergio Busquets, Cesc Fabregas and David Silva replacing Torres, Xavi and Cazorla.

Iniesta - already introduced for Mata at half-time - drilled right into Quinonez's gloves before Silva announced his arrival by stinging the keeper's fingers.

Just when it seemed that the last bubbles of fizz had gone out of the game, Iniesta made it 2-0 with a goal of real quality.

Seizing on Busquets' long ball forward from the Spain half, the man who scored the 116th-minute winner against the Dutch at Soccer City took aim and curled the ball into the bottom right corner.

There were seven minutes remaining for La Roja to further extend their lead and they pushed hard for the third goal, with Busquets hitting the post and Silva almost catching Quinonez out with a cheeky lob.
