Just after 2 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, the man of the hour, Diego Costa, showed his face at the Eurostars hotel in Madrid, fresh off finding out that he had been included in Vicente del Bosque's 23-man World Cup squad. MARCA had the chance to talk to Spain's highest-profile new face to get his reaction to the news.

Question. First of all, congratulations Diego.

Answer. Thank you. Honestly, I'm really buzzing; today is a very happy day for me. I was very excited about the prospect of representing Spain at the World Cup in Brazil. I'm delighted.

Q. The question on all Spain fans' lips is how you're doing physically.

A. I'm doing great. I've been working with the physios and fitness coaches over the last few days and I feel really good. From tomorrow [Sunday] I'll start working with the rest of the team under Vicente del Bosque's orders.

Q. When do you expect to return to action?

A. I'm hoping to get a run-out in next week's game against El Salvador in Washington.

Q. What will your mood be going into the World Cup in Brazil?

A. I want to win it, obviously. We're going to put up a fight.

Q. Lastly, what's your take on the Champions League final?

A. Real Madrid got very lucky [laughing].
