Marouane Fellaini ditches famous afro for tighter look, the world weeps
Friday, July 11, 2014 by YAHOO SportBelgium and Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini has changed his most beloved and recognizable attribute: his glorious and free flowing afro.
After an underwhelming first season at Man United in which the only benefit he offered was to the novelty wig vendors around Old Trafford, Fellaini agreed to cut the 'fro he's been growing out since 2008 if Belgium won the World Cup. But they only made it to the quarterfinals, so he seems to have compromised by trimming his hair and braiding what was left.
This development has devastated millions of people around the world who have grown to love Fellaini's hair while remaining largely indifferent to the person it was attached to. At least one person is happy about this change, though: Fellaini's Belgium midfield partner Axel Witsel. Apparently Witsel believes that midfielders with afros are like Highlanders.
Meanwhile, in Manchester hundreds of people are trying to figure out how to braid a wig.
